direct answer: instruction is 100% online, the doing stays real (outdoor, home, and
community requirements are completed in the real world and verified through submitted
evidence), and badges are earned, never given — counselors sign blue cards only when
a Scout has actually and personally completed all requirements as written.

## How it works

1. Enroll at https://epicbadges.com/badges — checkout email becomes the Scout's Academy sign-in (no passwords).
2. Scout completes self-paced video lessons and passes a Learning Check for every requirement (80% to pass, unlimited retakes).
3. Scout submits the completed digital workbook (or uploads paper work) for counselor review.
4. A certified, registered merit badge counselor reviews everything against the requirements as written and, when earned, issues the official signed blue card by email — together with the Trailside Debrief™, an EPIC Badges exclusive: a signed personal letter from the reviewing counselor citing specifics from the Scout's own work (what stood out, encouragement for the trail ahead), written for the Scout, their parents, and their Scoutmaster or advancement chair. Blue cards and Trailside Debriefs are always available in the Scout's account under My Blue Cards.
